Bumps in the Road
It’s funny, Nikki and I were JUST talking about how we get upset when our plans, no matter how big or small, get interrupted…
We had driven our vehicle for hundreds of miles, climbed numerous peaks, towing our RV trailer along the way with no issue. We went in to look at some bikes for ten minutes, came out of the store, and the car wouldn’t start. Perhaps you know the feeling, that, “what in the world now?” feeling. Ordinarily, this would have left me angry, upset, frustrated….but for some reason it didn’t. Nikki and I prayed for calmness and clarity and God delivered. No, the vehicle didn’t magically start, but we felt peace. More than that, we were able to have a ‘big picture’ perspective. It could have been worse, we could have been in the middle of nowhere. But we weren’t, in fact, we had family that lived right up the road to help us (thank you Andrew and Cari). And of course my buddy Matt was providing his mechanical wisdom (flywheels and starters). All this to say, there couldn’t have been a better time to have such a huge disruption, if that makes any sense at all.
I’m looking at the truck right now, a smirk on my face. Less than 24 hours in the shop and a new layer to our journey. I learned so much from this episode…. how blessed I am to have awesome family and friends, how humbling it is to ask for help, how to look at the brightside when things seem dim, and, perhaps the greatest lesson is that these bumps in the road don’t DEFINE you, they REFINE you. The trials of life make the story that much more interesting.
Thanks to everyone who helped us thru this episode,
Loco

What was the cause of the car not starting! It is either a bad battery, bad ignition switch it a bad starter. The last part mentioned above is most expensive. We had a similar cat trouble years ago when we were young, it happened in Elko, Nevada.. still remember the details related to the episode. Glad to know that your car is good to go again. Have fun.
Starter, but we budgeted for these things. The technician was from San Diego so we got to chat.
